Why combine Irish Food and Southern Food in one location?
After spending several days in Ireland - I realized that most Irish food is fried food, meat, and potatoes. So, I started to think about the food I grew up eating in South Carolina and Alabama...Country Fried Steak, Southern Fried Chicken, French Fries, Mashed Potatoes...saw a huge similarity between the foods.
The main difference that I noticed was the flavor! After talking to several people, I convinced myself that both Southern Food and Irish Food were very similar - yet no one has combined them in a single location. And the birth of The Original Public House came!
We carefully picked certain Irish staples along with some Southern flair in our menu. As we have grown, we have tweaked our menu to include more Southern dishes. We will continue to keep our Irish food that sells well, and play with the Southern dishes to include more traditional Southern infused foods.
Our entire menu is made with fresh product and we make our food in-house from scratch! It is like going to your Mother's or Grandmother's house to eat when you come to The Original Public House. We hope you enjoy eating our food as much as we enjoy preparing it for you!
See how we played on our meals to look similar...yet be so different!
